Hey family Whats up? Things are going great in the MTC im lovin it here. The first day we got into Spanish Class and our teacher just started goin off in spanish, then she would just sit there staring at us waiting for us to do what she told us to do haha so yeah but its awesome my district is in the Intermediate class so we just jumped right into the language which has taken us elders a little time to adjust too. The hermanas are amazing at spanish they already bumped two of them up to the advances class cause they're so good so now their leaving to argentina in 3 weeks so thats way cool for them.
Yesterday i got made district leader which was pretty cool. I guess starting sunday ill have meetings to go to and stuff like that to better prepare us missionaries so that should be fun. The elders in my room are Elder Gray from orem going to washington state, then elder Barker from willard going to houston texas, then my companion elder koford going to argentina. Its weird ive only met 1 person since ive been here that is going to my mission so yeah but its sweet we're having a great time. Yesterday night we had a huge challenge though. Thursday our real 1st day of language study our teacher told us that friday night we had to teach an investigator for 30 minutes in spanish using the least amount of notes possible haha we were all like whatever are you serious haha. So elder koford and I got to work. We taught this lady last night who wasnt very friendly at all and she wouldn't even let us kneel down to pray at the start haha and she is from guatamela so she talks super super fast so elder koford and I understood like every 3 words and we just smiled and nodded :) what was pretty cool though is we were able to talk about prayer and how to pray. At the end we asked her to pray and she said not tonight thats pretty weird to me so I just said the prayer at the end. Through the lesson though I was able to bear my testimony on prayer and alot of other things. Its crazy how much the lord helps you with the language. Each time we're in the language room and we start talking we understand more and more and we've only been here for 3 days. Last night as a district we made a goal to speak only spanish for the rest of the night and through the morning. It was such a pain haha cause we just had our dictionaries with us and had to communicate that way but it helped so much. This morning we had to teach a guy named Aaron and we kind of gave the same lesson as we did before. It didn't go well at all and we couldn't even commit him to pray by the end. The spirit wasn't there cause my companion and I were just focused so much on getting the words right and reading off notes that we werent even focused on his needs. He didn't respond much cause we weret flowing with it at all. After we got back to the room to study some more we were really frustrated and just getting really impatient with things and so were the other elders. Right when we got back too we were supposed to plan our next visit with him for monday so that didn't help the situation either. So a couple minutes l just stopped and said elders we need to say a prayer and ask for the spirit and also for help that we may better teach Aaron. And i kid you not within 2 or 3 minutes we had our next 20 minute lesson planned on how to better reach Aaron on monday. It was crazy how fast the spirit worked for us. We felt it so strong at that moment and new that what we came up with was what aaron needed from us. I cant wait to get that all studied in spanish and teach him again on monday. Im so happy to be here right now. The MTC is really hard, the food stinks, the classes are long, but the spirit is so strong and its amazing to walk around everyday and hear other elders and sisters bearing their testimonies in so many different foreign languages. I love serving the Lord and its so sweet to be able to look at myself in the mirror everyday and see this awesome badge on, i wouldnt rather be anywhere else than here
